Betye Saar is still vibrant at age 93. I know because I recently met her. Here are some gif animations I made of her current show at MoMA in NYC, which ends tomorrow Jan 4, 2020, or Jan 5 for members.
This exhibit Betye Saar: The Legends of Black Girl's Window, covers the artist's transition from printmaking in the 1960s to radically personal & political assemblages in the 1970s, inspired by Joseph Cornell and vintage racist ephemera.
These gifs home in on details that are easily missed by a casual viewing of Saar's work.
